What is the annual update fee? Is it necessary to have the
updates or can we decline them? |
A:
The annual update fee is $600, which covers the
cost of annual updates each year. The update released
each year in February is required in order to continue
to use the software, as it contains the data entry areas
for the new year. For example, versions released in 2006
only contain monthly data entry areas for 2006. Versions
released in 2007 would contain the data entry areas needed
in order to use the software during 2007. We also send
you a variety of update macros throughout the year, as
needed.
We
generally bill the update fee in December of each year.

What information is provided with the updates? |
A:
Updated
data entry areas, numerous upgrades and improvements based
on the suggestions and requests of our users, updated peer
ratio data, etc. |

Is
there a formal contract to sign?

A.
No, there is no formal contract. |

What type of support comes with the software? Do you have
training that comes with the purchase or is this “self-acquired”? |
A.
The program comes with web based help files, Flash Demonstrations
for a variety of features, and a very large menu "wizards"
(similar to the demo wizard that takes you through the
program), which walk you through how to use the program,
step-by-step. We also offer occasional web training conferences
hosted by Jim Aho (for a fee).

Can the software produce monthly financial statements for
the Board? (Income/Expense and ratio reports with a 12 mos.
trend) |
A.
All of the charts and graphs you see in the demo, including
the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Ratio Analysis sheet,
etc., can be printed for your board. We have a special Print
Job area in the software where you can set-up and save specific
print jobs for your Board Reports, with custom headers and
footers, page numbering, and more. |

Q:
Do
Credit Unions have to input data into Insight on a monthly
basis or is there a tendency to use the software only quarterly
when they can import their NCUA call report data? |
A.
Each
credit union is different. Some credit unions import their
data using the quarterly information available from http://www.creditunions.com/data/cusearch/
as you have noted. Some prefer to manually enter their
data on a monthly basis. Other credit unions work with
their IT personnel to use our GL Import feature so that
their credit union's data imports directly into Insight
on a monthly basis.
The
software functions correctly with any of these options,
it is strictly a matter of user preference. Some of our
very detailed charts show monthly progress towards long
term strategic goals - inputting data on a quarterly basis
makes these charts less specific than they have the potential
to be, but they are still great indicators of your overall
progress.

Our credit union is privately insured, so we can't import
our information from the NCUA's website. Is there another
option for us? |
A:
Privately insured credit unions can easily download their
financial information from http://www.creditunions.com/data/cusearch/.
In
fact, when importing call reports, all credit unions should
download their financial information from this source.
Call report files downloaded from the NCUA's website are
no longer compatible with Insight Planning Software, although
the .xml data file you send to the NCUA each quarter is
fully compatible and importable.
We
have included a Wizard and Flash Demo in the Insight software
to assist you with this process.
